Require all energy companies to pay interest to customers who are in credit

What the petition asks
Require that all companies involved in the supply of domestic gas and electricity pay customers who are in credit interest at the Bank of England rates applicable.
Millions of customers are or will be in credit owing to the high Direct Debits they are being expected to pay plus the money being paid by the Government.
This is effectively a ‘loan’ to the energy companies upon which the customers see no return. That money is used by the energy companies to generate more income.
This income should be paid to the customers as interest on the credit.
