What the petition asks
Given the controversial economic measures driven by the newly appointed UK government, which has no democratic mandate for these, in a moment of unprecedented economic and social crisis, the government should call a general election, or be made to by the House of Commons in a vote of no confidence.
The government has no democratic mandate for its radical, controversial economic measures, in response to unprecedented national and international economic and geopolitical challenges which have emerged since the last general election. In responding to these profound difficulties and in making difficult social and economic choices for all our futures, it is vital that a UK government is seen to enjoy a full democratic mandate for driving and implementing these, and the confidence of the while UK
