What the petition asks
If a petition calling for a No Confidence Referendum reaches 250,000 signatures, it should immediately trigger a 'No Confidence Referendum'. If the result is that a majority of voters do not have confidence in the Government, Parliament is dissolved and there is an early General Election.
There is currently massive yearnings from the public for a General Election, as shown in another petition on this site, which has over 500,000 signatures.
However, despite the insistent calls, they can be entirely ignored by the ruling party. This defies the foundations of democracy, where Parliament should represent us. Yes we gave a mandate, but we should be able to take it away if we believe the Government is acting against our best interests and the best interests of the United Kingdom as a state.
