Enforce tougher laws on absent parents to pay child support to single parents.

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

I want the government to Enforce tougher laws on non residential parents to pay child support to single parents and take parental responsibility for their children.
I want the government to enforce tougher laws on non residential parents to pay child support to single parents because I am a single parent of a seven year old who has not seen his father for the past six years. He is a non paying parent because he is not working and refuses to go on benefits because he does not want to pay for his child.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want to see stronger laws in relation to non-resident parents, but it's not clear what new laws you want to see. We could accept a petition calling on the Government to increase penalties for non-payment of child maintenance, if that's what you want to happen.

We couldn't publish a petition that contained any personal information about a non-resident parent.
