What the petition asks

In an attempt to make new currency 'more accessible' the Royal mint is dropping a 1000 year old tradition to engrave the monarchs name in Latin. I believe the Royal mint should use the Latin name for King Charles III on all new coins.

This tradition disadvantages no one and changing it with have little to no beneficial effect. It is easily understood who the person on the back of a UK coins is from the picture and past precedent. Those confused about the name and spelling can find answers more easily than in the past thanks to the Internet.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Coins are manufactured and issued by the Royal Mint, not the UK Government or Parliament.
