Allow Russian spouses to apply for residency from within the UK.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

The Home Office has strongly advised British nationals and their families to leave Russia.

However, Russian spouses must first apply for a family visa in Russia. They must give their passport to the UKVI, and then wait 6-8 months in Russia for a decision.

The rules are contrary to the advice.
Without a passport, RU/UK families are unable to leave Russia.

Russian families of British citizens should be able to apply and wait for a Visa decision in the UK.

- Waive E-LTRP.2.1 of Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules for Russian spouses.

- Re-enable the priority visa service in application centers in Russia.

- Re-enable the ability for Visa applicants to hold on to their passport after application, while they await a decision.

Current rules are dangerous, illogical, and inhumane.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

You may wish to sign this petition which calls for a similar action: :
Allow Russian citizens to apply for UK work visas outside a country of residence

We could accept a petition requesting visa legislation be altered specifically for spouses and/or family members of UK nationals, if that's what you want to happen, but you'd need to be clear exactly who you wanted exemptions to be made for.
