Make transitioning for people with gender dysphoria a priority

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

Someone who asked yesterday about transitioning from male to female was told they would have to wait EIGHT YEARS FOR AN INITIAL APPOINTMENT. There needs to be more investment in treatment and there need to be better services for people with gender dysphoria.
It is devastating to be told that you have to live as the wrong gender for eight years before you can even have an appointment, and the process after that also takes years. Some of the highest suicide rates are among those waiting for treatment for gender dysphoria and it isn't right.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you would like to see improvements to NHS transgender services but it's not clear which specific actions you would like the Government to take to improve these services.

You could start a new petition calling for additional funding for transgender services, which could help bring down waiting times, if this is something you would like to see happen.

We only open petitions which include the petitioners full name. We will accept your initial and full surname if you do not wish to use your full name. You could also ask a friend or family member to start the petition on your behalf.
