Require siblings to be a priority in school admission oversubscription criteria

What the petition asks
The Government should require that all schools prioritise all siblings in their oversubscription criteria, regardless of the catchment area.
Currently, school admission authorities can discriminate between siblings who are in the catchment area and those who are not. This means siblings can be split up or families forced to move their eldest child.
Why should the elder child be forced to move schools because a sibling is not a priority. Appeals are a waste of everyone’s time as they do not offer any help especially in cases of over subscription. This can put strain and financial burden on working families.
