If a new Leader also becomes Prime Minister; a General Election must be called

What the petition asks
Sign into Law: If a Political Party’s Leadership Contest also leads to a new Prime Minister, a General Election must be called within 90 days, so the new leadership can obtain a mandate from the public, not just from their party members.
There is currently no law to this affect. Both Theresa May and Boris Johnson called early elections after becoming Both Leader & PM so as to get a mandate, but that’s no guarantee, as of writing Liz Truss (and her successor) have not.
This new law will ensure we get a PM who was voted for by the majority of the public.
