What the petition asks

To abolish the Pension for life after you have served as Prime Minister.
To abolish the pension for life after you have served as a Prime Minister

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Under the Ministers’ Pension Scheme Ministers, including the Prime Minister, accrue a part of their pensionable salary in each year they are a contributing member of the scheme, and have a normal pension age linked to their State Pension age. You can find out more about this scheme here: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn04586/

We could accept petitions calling for changes to the current scheme, if it was clear what changes you'd like to see.
