Prevent former PMs who left office due to their own conduct from standing again

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

There should be NO ROUTE BACK for any Prime Minister who was removed from office or resigned because their conduct fell short of the Nolan Principles for standards in public life.
Boris Johnson resigned after multiple scandals over his own conduct and his mishandling of the behaviour of others. There is an ongoing Privileges Committee investigation into this matter, and we know he broke the law during lockdown, then misled Parliament about it. He should be disqualified from any future contest on these grounds.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about standing for elected office are a matter for individuals and relevant political parties, not the UK Government or Parliament.
