Make trigger warnings for infant loss and birth trauma mandatory

Closed 540 signatures

What the petition asks

Scenes of child loss on TV can be shocking. But if the unimaginable has happened to you, it can take you right back to the day your child died. It’s excruciating, and can have a lasting impact. To help protect families, there should be trigger warning for birth trauma and the death of an infant.
A trigger warning gives the viewer a heads-up of potentially distressing content, and the choice of whether to watch or not. If this choice is taken away this can impact a person's mental health by bringing forward their own traumatic experiences of miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss. Each experience is very different and should have a warning to identify the type of loss or trauma within the program.

It doesn’t seem fair that someone has to witness a loss without warning in a programme and pass on this information when a mandatory warning first would protect all who have suffered.
