Stop rishi sunak from getting rid of transgender peoples rights
Rejected

What the petition asks
Keep transgender peoples rights.
Taking away rights that have been in place for almost 13 years is an act against humanity. People who identify as a different gender shouldn’t be forced back into a category they don’t belong in.
This will have detrimental effects on so many peoples mental health.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We understand that you are concerned about the possibility of legal rights for trans people being reduced, but the Government has not announced any plans to change the Equality Act, or remove legal protections for trans people.
It has been reported that the Government may look to amend the Equality Act to make it clear that sex means biological sex rather than gender, and we could accept a petition calling on the Government to commit not to making this change.
