Create an official federated social networking presence for MPs

What the petition asks
Federated social networking is starting to become more popular, and is an alternative to centralized social media networks, which most MPs currently use. We believe it makes sense for MPs to have access to a clearly official presence.
I would suggest that the body managing parliament.uk should set up social.parliament.uk as an instance for federated social networking. There are many open source projects that could be used for this which are not a product or business. This would provide MPs with access to an official social media presence. Ideally this would also be properly archived for public record.
