Make reporting false allegations of sexual offences a specific criminal offence

What the petition asks

We believe existing offences that apply to reporting false allegations of sexual offences are insufficient, and that there should be a specific offence of reporting false allegations of sexual offences.

First and foremost this is not to disregard genuine victims of sexual assault. However, when a false allegation is made this can have a catastrophic effects on the alleged perpetrator and their family.

We believe the offences of Perverting the Cause of Justice and/or Wasting Police Time aren't sufficient. We demand a new law that makes it a specific criminal offence to report a false sexual allegation.
