What the petition asks
With COVID-19 on the rise again this winter, people need to mask again in public transports and public indoor places in order to reduce the spread of the virus and therefore protect themselves, their loved ones and vulnerable and disabled individuals.
According to a YouGov poll from November 2022, "Around half of Britons are worried about both the number of people catching COVID-19 (49%), and the number of people being hospitalised with the illness (53%) increasing this winter. People are less worried about catching it themselves, with just over one in three (37%) saying so."
Furthermore, according to NHS data, there were 6,720 people in hospital with the virus on 14 December, up from 5,501 on 7 December.
