Increase NI contributions for higher paid & pensioners with above average income

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Abolish the lower rate of National Insurance contributions so everyone pays the same rate (currently 12%). In addition make those above retirement age with income greater than the national average for those in work pay National Insurance on that part of their income.
It will significantly increase the money available to fund the NHS and ensure staff are adequately paid for their work

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. The title of your petition, which calls for higher paid people to have higher National Insurance contradicts your request that "everyone pays the same rate".

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
