Introduce mandatory Covid tests for anyone travelling from China
Rejected
9 signatures
What the petition asks
Require anyone travelling from China to have a negative Covid test before they can enter the UK. This includes anyone who has left China in the previous two weeks and is travelling to the UK from anywhere in the world.
The removal of total lockdowns by China without any booster programme or vaccination strategy will produce a surge in infections. This in turn could produce new and possibly more deadly variants. Please refer to recent article in The Economist.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Since you started your petition the Government has announced that passengers arriving from China to England will need to show a negative COVID-19 pre-departure test taken no more than 2 days prior to departure.
In addition, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is launching surveillance which will see a sample of passengers arriving in England from mainland China tested for COVID-19 at the point of their arrival.
