Negotiate right of UK citizens to join the EU for an annual fee and amend UK law

Closed 281 signatures

What the petition asks

For those that want to rejoin the EU, the UK Government should negotiate with the EU to allow it on an individual basis.
Individuals who want to take this up should be able to tell HMRC, who would deduct the fee through the tax system, and transfer this to the EU.

The money would go to the EU every year, with renewal on an annual basis. This should incentivise the EU to act in the interests of citizens who become EU members.

Based on the UK’s net contributions to the EU in 2018, membership could cost £135 (plus admin fee) per person. It could be an annual checkbox on tax returns and paid by HMRC to the EU.

It could help resolve the endless division of society caused by the subject.
