Introduce mandatory licensing scheme for dog walkers

Closed 167 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the Government to introduce mandatory licensing with a requirement of basic training, for people to operate as dog walkers.
Dog walkers are not regulated nationally. Currently, most dog walkers do not require licensing, insurance, training or experience.

Limits on the number of dogs per walker are inconsistent as set by local authorities, some authorities have no limit.

There have been too many reports of dogs being lost by walkers and of out of control dogs.

We ask that the Government regulate dog walkers by way of mandatory licensing and introduce a licensing criteria to include basic training.
