What the petition asks
We want the Government to fully legalise the use, possession and distribution of magic mushrooms so that they may be used without consequence
Psilocybin mushrooms are currently a Class A drug in the UK, to which the most serious penalties apply.
There have been multiple studies challenging the idea that magic mushrooms are very dangerous, and have found that psilocybin mushrooms can be used as treatment for depression. There are very few deaths or serious medical emergencies associated with psilocybin mushrooms. Compare this to the likes of alcohol which took almost 10,000 lives in the UK in 2021.
Why should a dangerous drug like alcohol be legal but psilocybin be a Class A drug?
