What the petition asks

Force security guards company’s to pay more than the minimum wage. the security guard industry is a complete joke. We provide a wide range of protection in the security sector. & a lot of us are still working for minimum wage.

Minimum wage is a joke especially when you’re protecting the public. on a daily basis security companies are making sky rocket profits. but are not putting our wages up. I think this is bigger downside to working in the security industry when you pay £500.00 for a security license to perform security in the United Kingdom. Yet a lot of us are still being paid minimum wage to protect the public. when retail workers are getting paid a higher wage than security guards.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about what private businesses pay their workers, provided this is at or above the minimum wage, are a matter for individual employers, not the UK Government or Parliament.
