What the petition asks
We believe becoming a Member of Parliament is an honour and privilege and people seeking this public office should be held to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Requiring public scrutiny of all MPs personal tax affairs would give confidence to their electors.
We think open and accountable Government starts at the level of the individual Member of Parliament. Open government is good government, for the people of the UK to trust their government the MPs must also trust the scrutiny of the people of the UK. We expect the highest standards of honesty and integrity in both the performance of their official duties and the arrangements of their private affairs. Both should bear the closest public scrutiny.
