What the petition asks
Legislation should be enacted to force a referendum if a parliamentary e-petition gains more than 500,000 signatures.
The current e-petition system can be ignored by an incumbent government.
True democracy requires the incumbent government to listen to the people and e-petitions are supposed to be a way to do this, but they are too often ignored.
Forcing a referendum for very popular e-petitions would be a way to ensure that the Government cannot ignore e-petitions.
