Make 'Care Experience' a Protected Characteristic

What the petition asks
Looked after children and care experienced adults can face abuse and discrimination which the Government could help prevent by making care experience a protected characteristic.
When a child comes into care, the council and government become their Corporate Parent, meaning that they are responsible for providing the best possible care and safeguarding for the children they look after. An essential element of this care should be the prevention of discrimination.
No matter their age, people with care experience will always carry the label of being care experienced. The Government should do what it can to ensure such people do not suffer discrimination as a result.
