Seize frozen Russian assets and give proceeds to Ukraine

Closed 237 signatures

What the petition asks

Ukraine’s civilian population has suffered an incredibly high level of casualties, deaths, sexual and physical abuse and structural damage. Attacks on these people continues daily to their homes, hospitals and essential infrastructure including transport, energy and communications.
Although sanctions do have some effect, this would be much more so if the sanctioned funds were donated to Ukraine as reparation for Russia’s illegal invasion, instead of being frozen, only to be returned or released to Russia at some later date.

On the 9th September 2022 - the Government of Ukraine, the European Commission, and the World Bank, published a report showing that the current cost of reconstruction and recovery in Ukraine amounts to $349 billion (£290 billion). This still grows.
