Create an Adoption Allowance for self-employed adopters

What the petition asks
Treat self-employed people equally by creating an Adoption Allowance for self-employed adopters, that provides support equal to Statutory Adoption Pay.
Myself and my husband are unable to have children of our own, and after a long battle of trying to conceive, and many difficult conversations, we decided to adopt.
We overcame many challenges and hurdles to get this far, but because we are both self-employed we do not receive any financial support. My husband didn't take any time off and I went back to work after 5 months.
I believe children who are adopted by self-employed people deserve the same rights as any other child to build attachments with their parents, and introducing an Adoption Allowance for self-employed adopters would help support this.
