What the petition asks
We want the Government to include certain animal businesses in the Energy and Trade Intensive Industries (“ETII”) scheme, to give them additional support with energy costs through the Energy Bills Discount Scheme for non-domestic energy customers.
Include Class 47.76: Retail sale of flowers, plants, seeds, fertilizers, pet animals and pet food in specialised stores - as well as those for wholesalers (Class 46.23: Wholesale of live animals) and aquaculture facilities for marine and freshwater (Class 03.22: Freshwater aquaculture & Class 03.21: Marine aquaculture).
Electricity is an important part of keeping live animals and the additional support is needed.
If manufacturers of knitted and crocheted fabrics and hosiery deserve additional help then surely businesses which look after live animals such as tropical marine fish, which are extremely energy hungry, should also be prioritised.
