Raise awareness of sexual assault in schools
Rejected

What the petition asks
Many children in the uk experience some form of sexual assault, 1 in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys before the age of 18. Some whom may not know that it’s wrong or have no understanding of it. If we raise awareness in schools this may help children’s understanding how to recognise it and how to get help
We should make it a highly encouraged topic for secondary schools to talk to their students about how to recognise sexual assault and how to report and ask for help.
And for primary school students to have a talk on their body rights

Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
As part of Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) schools are already required to teach students about:
- the concepts of, and laws relating to, sexual consent, sexual exploitation, abuse, grooming, coercion, harassment, rape, domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour-based violence and FGM, and how these can affect current and future relationships.
- how people can actively communicate and recognise consent from others, including sexual consent, and how and when consent can be withdrawn (in all contexts, including online).
- how to seek help or advice, including reporting concerns about others
