Make Chesterfield canal free fishing again

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Return chesterfield canal to free fishing
The canal as been free fishing for many years all of a sudden Derbyshire county council have decided to start charging!
If you look around most towns and cities there councils offer at least 1 stretch of water for people to fish .
We are in a cost of living crisis and this could potentially be taking away some people’s only escape from the real world!
Make Derbyshire county council reverse this decision to charge people most people I have spoken with won’t pay this as it’s not value for money !

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about local permissions for fishing are a matter for the relevant local authority, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could raise your issue with a local councillor who represents you. You can find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them, by entering your post code here: https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors
