Establish border checks for hauliers in Calais to find any undocumented migrants

What the petition asks
We want the UK Government to establish border inspections for hauliers intending to cross the British channel, to find any undocumented migrants.
If any undocumented migrants are found on the truck after it has been checked the haulier should not be liable for this.

Currently hauliers can face large fines if an undocumented migrant is found once their vehicle has crossed the channel. Due to this some hauliers just let migrants go if they find them.
To avoid this we want the UK Government to take responsibility for ensuring that there are no undocumented migrants on trucks crossing the channel, by establishing secure checks. We believe the current system of CO2 checks and scans is not fit for purpose.
