What the petition asks
I want the government to debate this and take urgent action. They promise to act, but often don't. Postponing action for years, as has been done re polluting our rivers, just makes the issues worse, more difficult and expensive to deal with.
Without action Government is allowing our natural habitats and endangered species to be killed off. We need more protected areas for our ecosystems to flourish. Look at Wilding's successes - and they are easy to do. It's for our children's future, and for everyone's benefit. Government promised to leave to leave the environment in a better condition for future generations - now they need to prove this to us. Cross party agreement is the only way forward.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you want to see the Government take greater action in respect of the environment, but we're not sure exactly what action you want the Government or Parliament to take.
We can't accept petitions calling for MPs to watch particular television shows, but can accept petitions calling for the Government to implement new policies to protect the environment.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
