What the petition asks
Uganda is a commonwealth country receiving more than £95m in aid annually. The Commonwealth is founded on certain values that include respect to individual rights.
These values are under attack after MPs in Uganda passed a controversial anti-LGBT bill, which would make homosexual acts punishable by death.
The bill introduces capital and life imprisonment sentences for gay sex and “recruitment, promotion and funding” of same-sex “activities”.
