Stop the proposed asylum centre at Wethersfield airbase.

What the petition asks
Abandon proposals to convert Wethersfield airbase into an asylum centre.
The rural location means that it is unsustainable and will adversely impact existing local services upon which the local community relies. Regardless of the implications for the local community, it's not a sustainable location for the asylum seekers themselves who will be abandoned in a remote, rural location with limited transport options and severely restricted access to local amenities, shops etc. Furthermore, there has been no formal planning application for the change of use of the site.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We cannot accept petitions about operational matters, which includes decisions about what specific government facilities to use to accommodate asylum seekers.
We could accept a petition calling on the Government not to house asylum seekers in any military facilities, if that's something you'd like to happen.
