To lower university accommodation prices
Rejected
17 signatures
What the petition asks
Lower accommodation prices to a reasonable number which doesn't leave students in crippling debt for years after they've left university.
University accommodation generally provides the bare minimum with small living spaces but costs much more than what it is worth. We have debated this issue in our year 11 citizenship lesson and we agree that this is a national issue.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about the cost of university accommodation are a matter for individual universities and private providers of accommodation, not the UK Government or Parliament.
