What the petition asks
Autism needs to be included as a mandatory module for any health professional in training. A full module which they are tested and marked on. Dclins/Nurses and doctors who do rotational training should also have it made mandatory to do a rotation working with Autism.
Developing the training will help Autists of the future to access Neurodivergent Affirmative treatment.
- autistic women are 13x more likely to die by suicide
- misrecognition leads to iatrogenic harm that produces distress further misdiagnosed.
We do need this now and there is a mandatory training in place however this needs to be be deepened and embedded in to the educational system.

Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.
Decisions about training requirements for nurses and healthcare assistants are a matter for the relevant professional bodies, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
