Pause vehicle MOTs and road tax until the roads have been fixed

What the petition asks
Why should we have to pay to make our vehicles suitable for the roads, when the roads aren't suitable for our vehicles? Freeze MOTs until the roads are fixed
Pause MOTs or make all vehicle tax free. The roads are terrible yet we're paying for their so called maintenance. If I have to repair my vehicle again because of pot holes I will be sending the bill to Downing Street.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the condition of roads, but we're not sure what criteria you want to be set for when vehicle excise duty can be charged again, and cars be required to undergo MOTs.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
Increase funding for the repair and resurfacing of roads: Increase funding for the repair and resurfacing of roads
You can already claim compensation if your vehicle has been damaged by a road. You can find out to do this here: https://www.gov.uk/claim-for-damage-to-your-vehicle
