Do not impose Vehicle Excise Duty on zero emission vehicles from 2025

What the petition asks
I would like the Government to consider not to introduce Vehicle Excise Duty for zero emission cars, vans and motorcycles from 2025.
We believe it would be counterproductive to introduce the road fund licence fee for electric vehicles. If the public have to spend extra to purchase an electric vehicle, as opposed to a diesel or petrol variant, without the incentives that currently exist, people will be less likely to buy an electric vehicle. Why would anyone pay an extra £10,000 on an electric vehicle instead of buying a cheaper petrol or diesel car?
