Do not house asylum seekers on ships with free access to the mainland

What the petition asks
The Home Office recently confirmed a barge will accommodate hundreds of adult men in Portland, Dorset. This has not been consulted on, and has raised local concerns. We call on the Government not to house asylum seekers on ships with free access to the mainland, at least without proper consultation.
We believe the Government has not adequately considered the effects this will have on the many businesses and people relying on the summer trade. Tourists, visitors and families generally flock to the coast to enjoy peaceful resorts and beaches; including, Weymouth and Portland.
