Require name of plastic used be displayed for plastic products and packaging

What the petition asks
The name or common abbreviation of the plastic (such as HDPE) used to make or package a product should be clearly labelled on the packaging and in the product description of items being sold in the UK, including online. Using a plastic resin code is insufficient, as code 7 is for "other".
I want the Government to create legislation to require that all companies manufacturing goods or selling to UK consumers provide this very basic piece of information to allow them to make informed choices and better enable them to properly recycle their products or packaging when they reach the end of their useful life.
