Recognise Taiwan as a nation

Closed 66 signatures

What the petition asks

The UK (independent of the EU), can distinguish itself and lead the way. The UK can show support for the APAC. We have AUKUS presence in the Pacific. We should go the whole way and recognise Taiwan as an independent nation.
These countries recognise the Taiwanese government: Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Holy See, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tuvalu

Why is the UK not coming out in support of people who clearly wish to be self governing? The UN charter on human rights makes it clear that peoples are entitled to self-determination and the UK are signatory to that. The present situation is hypocrisy.
