Allow people to keep hand guns for home defence in Great Britain

What the petition asks
I want the gun laws of Great Britain changed, so the people of Great Britain have the right to own a standard un-adjusted hand gun, and the right to use such weapon for home defence, when a valid licence has been obtained.
The gun laws were changed in Great Britain in 1996. This was prompted by a hand gun being used to commit a mass shooting. All standard hand guns were banned within Great Britain.
The people of Great Britain should never have to face restrictions due to the actions of any one person. In NI people can still own hand guns.
