What the petition asks

Buying homes to let as 'investment opportunities' can contribute to rent rises linked to mortgage rates. This can severely disadvantages people who rent their homes - they can be prey to extortionate rent rises and insecure tenancies.

The housing crisis is particularly felt in the rental sector and despite regulation there are far too many stories of people exploited by unscrupulous landlords. I would like to see the Government nationalise the private rental market to ensure a consistent standard of housing and equitable rents which could make homes affordable and secure for low income families.
