Abolish administration fees on insurance when changes are made online
Rejected
13 signatures
What the petition asks
The UK government should force insurance providers to abolish administrative fees when changes to a policy are made online by the policy holder as no input is required from the insurance provider to make the change.
Administration fees are no longer necessary when account information can be changed online by the policy holder. For example changing address on car insurance can now in most cases be changed via the web by the policy holder, meaning insurance companies are charging upwards of £20 for administration fees where they have not been required to do anything. It makes changing address or personal details costly which is normally during costly life events such as moving home when finances are strained.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about whether to charge an administrative fee for changes to insurance polices are a matter for individual insurers, not the UK Government or Parliament.
The fact that insurance policy holders can submit changes they would like to make to insurance policies online does not mean that there is no administrative cost associated with changes to insurance policies.
