Require all banks to retrospectively apply the CRM code at least from Sept 2016

Closed 60 signatures

What the petition asks

Many banks signed up to the Contingent Reimbursement Model Code for APP scams (authorised push payment scams). But it’s currently only voluntary and they don’t have to apply the code retrospectively.
The Government should mandate that all banks adhere to the code so that they reimburse victims post September 2016, date of Which?’s super-complaint, where banks failed to protect their customers and took little if any action to recover lost money.

All victims of this type of fraud to get access of redress and justice. Without the government intervention, ordinary people will never have protection and access to justice. Heartless banks refusing to listen and help us in any way regardless of the facts that we haven’t done anything wrong. It is the banks who failed in their duties required by the law and also within statutory rules.
