Stop hall to asylum seekers

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Stop the change of use to single men asylum seekers accommodation when it was built for university students .
The accommodation is next to two primary schools, one high school, a facility who have special needs adults attending also a day care centre for older people. Stafford hospital is pretty much closed for most incidents (as they couldn’t cope) so all are referred to university Stoke hospital and they cannot cope now. Doctors are struggling, dentists as well! There is nothing to do as most of the high street has closed down. What are these men going to do throughout the day, limited funds, cannot get a job and very small accommodation. The site was for 556 students so how are the managing to squeeze in 700 people and also only having 12 people to look/support them?!?!

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We cannot accept petitions about operational matters, which includes decisions about what specific government facilities to use to accommodate asylum seekers.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to require planning permission to use student accommodation to house asylum seekers.
