Replace the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 with a Fixed-Term Act

What the petition asks
We believe it is not sufficiently democratic to allow the Prime Minister to call an election at a time of their choosing, independent of the electorate or Parliament. We want the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 with an Act setting a fixed-term for Parliaments.
The Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 allows the Prime Minister to call an election at any time he/she chooses, provided a Parliament does not last longer than five years.
This petition is a request for the act to be repealed, and replaced with a new act requiring a fixed election date. These terms could mirror the current maximum length of a Parliament of five years, or be reduced to a shorter term, depending on what parliament decides is best for the country overall. The PM should not choose the time of general elections.
