Add NHS, police and other public sector IDs to list of accepted ID for voting

Closed 449 signatures

What the petition asks

The new Voter ID legislation currently excludes NHS ID as permissible ID for voting in person, the same applies to police ID and other IDs for public sector workers. I have been told about several NHS staff being turned away at polling stations due to this.
NHS staff, police, council employees and others undergo extensive security checks as part of their role. They are trusted to perform safety critical work, to deprive people in UK of their liberty, to maintain confidentiality and to administer life-saving treatment.

NHS staff have their credentials checked repeatedly. Surely NHS ID (and similar ID) should be able to be added to the list of photo ID that is acceptable for voting in person.
