What the petition asks
We want the government to stop the exhumation of Wing Commander Guy Gibsons black Labrador dog at RAF Scampton.
The remains of Wg Cdr Guy Gibsons dog are buried at RAF Scampton outside number 2 hangar. Wg Cdr Gibson was OC 617 Squadron on the night of Operation Chastise (16/17th May 1943), the dams raid, in the Rhur Valley in Germany. The dog was killed on the night of the raid and was buried on the station that same night. The raids along with Wg Cdr Gibson and his dog are a significant part of RAF history & heritage and the dog should not be removed from its final resting place of 80 years.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
This is a matter for the RAF and the relevant planning authority, not the UK Government or Parliament.
