End compulsory SATs for primary school children

Closed 379 signatures

What the petition asks

Education has moved on from when SATS were introduced in the 1990s. I want SATS to be scrapped and replaced with a new system that is fairer for teachers and children.

Trust the teachers who know our children, their capabilities, style of learning and Special Educational Needs.

In 2008 the Government decided to abolish the KS3 SATs following concerns of 'pervasive anxiety' in children of this age. Why then is it not a concern for our younger children too?

Our young people are being tested for government statistics only for many to be retested within weeks of starting high school with cognitive ability tests!

Good mental health is essential, and we believe SATs are a waste of time and can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety.
